Work Comp
I treat worker's compensation injuries in the same way I treat sports injuries; in many ways they are analagous and just differ in the setting in which they occur.
Principles of Treatment
The principles of treatment are the same: prompt diagnosis and initiation of treatment while minimizing lost game or in this case work time. I specialize in treatment of knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle injuries many of which may be treated with minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques. Arthroscopic surgery involves smaller incisions and often results in quicker recoveries. With on site MRI, physical therapy, and an outpatient surgery center, this keeps patients from having to drive all over town for diagnosis and treatment. This is efficient for patients and employers and helps reduce or eliminate lost work time.
Ease of Communication with Case Managers, Adjusters, Plant Nurses, Referring Physicians
Much like I do with coaches, trainers, and parents, I make a special effort to communicate with everyone involved with the work comp patient's care. I encourage case managers to attend patient appointments, and I am happy to speak with you regarding any aspect of the patient's care. Each patient always receives a worklink form delineating treatment and/or restrictions and this can be faxed to the case manager, adjuster, and employer immediately after the office visit.
Physician Panels
I am on the panel for area companies, and I would appreciate your consideration of placing me on your panel for orthopaedic injuries. If you would like me to tour your facility or have any questions regarding this please contact me by phone or email.
